I went to Sears and they were clearancing out these cabinets, so I decided a garage reorg was in order. Before, the sink base lowers and the wood cheap-o overhead cabinets:

Now, with the Craftsman overhead cabinets, eliminated the sink base and relocated the cheap-o wood cabinets:

The garage is only 20 X 20 so I have to be very creative with storage, but we have done engine changes, transmission and rear end swaps, about the only thing we don't do is weld.

Very cool.. now the only thing you need in there to "offset" the Vette is a nice 50's lead sled..

Love the colors, floor.. retro look and feel.. Heck, I give it a thumbs up!

Looks super, now all you have to do is enclose your hot water heater with a hinged door and proper grill for airflow. This is what mine looks like.

VMO....great looking garage. Definately worthy of showing off.

Hobie1Dog....good idea on closing off the water heater. BUT....before anyone decides to do that, the type of water heater needs to be considered. Electric is fine for closing off. I see that you have a vent in yours so I am assuming you have gas, either natural or propane. If so, you should also have a vent at the bottom. It does look like you have a gap at the bottom of the door.
Propane is heavier than air. If you would happen to have a malfunction, gas could fill the lower portion of the closet. With a lower vent, it would allow the gas to escape, not only dissipating it some, but also allowing you to smell it. In my area, houses are built on crawlspaces with gas furnaces inside of closets. Code requires that a register grille be in the closet so any propane leak would allow the propane to drop into the crawlspace and not enter the living area. Anyways...just a suggestion on the venting. :bounce:

GREAT JOB on a double garage, shows what can be done with what you have to work with.

A super VET place. I am also working on my space to get her half as nice as yours. Be careful the bug has bit you now on Garage Art.

NOTE: I agree Hobie and Kevin, PLEASE always be sure you follow all codes before building anything to enclose a gas water heater. It is a life safety issue. We all need to look out for each other.

I agree with the lower vent.....But if you look the bottom of the door is cut short. That would act as a vent. You can is the pipe coming out from under the door.
