Cabinets On Racedeck

In planning my Racedeck floor, I have already decided to trim them around my workbench (kitchen base) cabinets. However, I'm also going to have 2 36" wide tall storage cabinets of the white Home Depot variety. I'm starting to think that rather than set them on TOP of the Racedeck, perhaps it would be better to install them first and then trim the Racedeck around them too. These types of cabinets aren't THAT sturdy, so I'm thinking that having them sitting right on the slab might be more stable than having them sitting on the diamond patterned Racedeck. Any thoughts?

Thanks, Mike

I understand what your saying mike but truthfully i think the racedeck is more than stable enough. the only reason my cabinets are not on my racedeck is cause the cabinets were in first.

Just to clarify, I have no issue with the strength of the Racedeck to support the cabinets. I was thinking more of the "wobbliness" of the cabinets sitting on the diamond surface as opposed to flat on the slab. Thanks for the replies, keep 'em coming.

Where are you located ? in L.A. or LA ? if L.A. drive up and see my Racedeck, you will see that anything you put on top of them will be rock solid. Its not much of a diamond plate and while you could save a few dollars by cutting tiles around your cabinets, the floor will be around much longer than the cabinets and like a previous poster said you will have a hole in your floor tiles.

Thanks for the invite & the info, Mike. I'm in L.A. rather than LA (Thank God), but your location sure beats them both. I love your zoo.

My cabinets have always sat directly on the racedeck. If your cabinets arent stable on it, then your cabinets are the problem, not the flooring.
