I bought some Neutrik XLR cable connectors.

They are asking for

Standard crimp according IEC 60352-2 (B crimp). Wire size AWG 22 - 24, 0.22 - 0.34 mm .

I was planning on buying a tool, I see some of these dies are 200+ and the crimper is 130ish, any suggestions on a good tool to use? I'm not going to be doing this regularly but do like the idea of yet another nice tool to use for situations like these. Bit the bullet and drop the 300+?

Pictures of the setup: (still a bunch of things to sort out, but it's coming together. mostly yellowtec m!ka)

Thanks!

I would recommend the Hozan P-707 for your application, because it is flexible and will enable you to do almost all contacts of this type in the future, with a little knowledge and care.

Crimpers for these small open barrel contacts that simultaneously do both the wire and insulation crimp will likely be less reliable unless you are dialed on exactly the right wire/insulation/contact pairing, which unlikely unless you are buying the specific manufacturer tool and using the wire they intend.

For learning on what these crimps should look like, Google “Molex Crimp Quality Handbook” and “TE Crimp Guidelines”.
