The 74 TX650 came with a twin cable throttle, one cable for each carb. Adjustment for syncing the carbs was via an inline cable adjuster, damn silly idea and damn fiddly. To improve things a little, I bought a single cable throttle and looked around for a cable splitter. Couldn't find one that could be mounted, other than with zip ties, so I made my own.
I mounted a small lump of ally on the mill, stepped it and drilled two holes for mounting. Next it was mounted on the lathe, bored to 14mm then tapped 5/8" UNF for 11mm each end. Two end caps were then machined, one with a single cable input, the other with a two cable output, then knurled using my knurling scissors I made a few years ago. For the slide, I turned down a piece of brass, drilled three 1.5mm holes, counterbored them 3mm for cable ******* then used a slit saw to cut slits in the slide so cables could be inserted. When All done, I assembled it and dunked it in the anodising bath I put together. The anodising came up really well.
To aid syncing, I bent up two small brackets from aluminium and turned up two 35mm long adjusters from stainless and knurled them also. When all done, I made up three cables, mounted the splitter to the top engine mount, also made in my workshop, hooked everything up, started it up and synced the carbs - super, duper easy, a lot better than playing with those stupid inline adjusters.
