I found a pair of cable tie pliers at goodwill today, they felt good and Made in the USA. Picked up for $4.00. I did a google search and found these at the $200.00 range? Anyone know of these?

And those are a LONG way from Horror Fright, they're Thomas & Betts. $200 probably isn't that far off from original price.

I remember when Ty-Raps first came out ,they used metal stakes to lock the bundle , I have two of these. 1972 was when I first used them.

That's a great deal if they work. I have a similar set from a different manufacturer and they are handier than hell. I use a lot of zip ties on my race car, and they allow you to get a quality tie in odd places.

First off, YOU ****! :shocking:

Not sure who makes them for Thomas&Betts, but they are nice (have used a WT197 many, many times). Little bit of care and they'll last and last.

And when NEW, they do sell for that much. Any tool with a terminal or cable tie manufacturer's label on them are expensive. Usually rebranded, so if you can figure out who actually made it, it's possible to save a noticeable amount of money (skip the markup whenever possible ).

Still available, and my favorite plastic cable tie.

I have the Panduit brand. Panduit is the go to brand in the electronic industry, also $200/$300 buks. The best way to tighten cable ties and a must in the electronic business. But yea great find!!

Great find for $4! I worked as an electro-mechanical assembler for a brief period while doing an internship and these proved invaluable when producing elaborate wiring harnesses. Great tool!

Do those just tighten the wire tie? I can see it for an industrial setting, but for home use??

The OP did GOOD for four bucks, but $200?? Yikes!

They tighten and cut flush when working properly.
I had a similar older model with issues with the blade cover shifting - probably from banging around in the truck box for many years.
Finally replaced it with a GreenLee for 1/3 the price.
You can't go wrong for $4.00.

these are the one i have at work - they are for the wide, heavy duty ties in the picture i posted.. if i remember correctly, they run over $300 - and im assuming its because they are so uncommon..
image.jpg

they are called "ast tensioning tool" by the manufacturer. first one of these i was issued was taken and thrown on the building roof by a senior lineman, as i was told "you dont need these" 15 years ago. however - if you need to really tighten something down, your not doing it with just a pair of lineman pliers. i dont use them very often at all, more for projects and fastening **** to the truck or in the bucket, but they work extremely well. they work with the heavy duty ties rated to hold 250lbs.

That unit is for the large tywraps used for attaching flexible ducts to collars .

10-4 I have a MALCO-marked one that I use for duct work.

The smaller ties I just tighten by hand and cut off with a wire cutter.

FWIW, I use the JT&T Products 50 lb test tie straps. They seem to stand up to the sun about as good as any.
