Got all kinds of rolls around, barb wire, brace wire, black wire, electric fence wire, clothesline, 3-4 different sizes of hose for liquid fertilizer, 2-3 different sizes of wire rope, nylon rope, electrical wire - most not on spools, just rolled and hanging on a nail. Anybody got any neat cheap setups for keeping them organized and easy to access?

I have some on old mig wire spools. Will hold a 100' extension cord. Several different kinds available depending on the welder.

Dale; thirtyfive ++ years ago, I nailed six one gallon vegetable cans to my tool shed wall.. At about 7' off the floor, the back of each can was toenailed to a stud... Hose nozzle goes inside the open can, and the hose around the outside of the can... Nice round surface to baby the hoses that hang there year round...

For the items that are in "storage" (as opposed to regular use - I use zip ties and store my extra stuff on bike hanging hooks up on the rafters. I use a zip on the top and bottom of the wire/cord so it is a tight spool.

For the stuff that I use more often, I use those orange plastic clips you get at HD. I'm not sure what the brand is but they sort of work like police handcuffs - they're cheap and I've used them for years. Never had one break. I put one on the top of the cord and hang them on bike hooks in the garage.

These orange plastic hooks come in a couple of sizes and are sold in the bins at HD. I've not had any problems with this system.

I bought the bike hanging hooks (think of a "J" hook) cheap at Lowe's or HD.

I also have a cheap HF airhose reel that I mounted on a rafter for my air hose. It is a hand reel and I can easily roll up the hose. I have two of these reels (and I forget how cheap they were but they were cheap) but I've been very happy with them.

I avoid using tape because I've had it breakdown through the years and it leaves sticky residude on the product. Might not matter if you're wrapping barb wire but you wouldn't want the the sticky suff on your electrical wire or extension cord.

i salvage / hoard / a lot of wire & sealed weatherproof connectors from 16g to old battery cables.

all crammed into 2 or 3 storage totes up on a high shelf in the garage.

i very seldom have to buy any wire for my projects.

i try to keep my solid wire on the roll it came on, smaller bits and pieces get tossed in another storage tote in the basement

I use pegboard and hooks and hang a loop of cord that goes around the wire or cord and hooks back again on the hook. with different length loops of 1/8" nylon cord I can hang multiple cords off the same hook and it takes very little space and everything is in sight and easy to access. For spools of wire I use something that uses 1/8" rod hung vertically under a bench shelf with all the spools mounted on the rod. The rod slips through two eye bolts so when I need the wire I can either pull off a section and cut it or slide the rod out and grab an entire spool to take.
