Over the past ~2 years and especially the last year I've noticed craigslist has really taken a turn for the worst. Somehow attracting ignorant, arrogant low lifes. They are dishonest, lazy, arrogant and somehow have this entitlement that makes them think their life and time is actually worth something to a complete stranger. Less than five minutes and the guy could have saved others and himself a bunch of questions. Sad, but like many a other things, a once good service gets abused and ruined by those "special" folks in our society.

^^^This! With modern (or even relatively modern) cameras you have to go out of your way to take a bad pic, yet I see blurry, out of focus dark pics all the time.

$20 tool box. I'm not sure I'd mess with pictures either. I realize that some people can just send them with their phones, I can't. Ask a few questions and go get the box. $20 is a fair price if it's in OK condition.
Or it may be brand new condition filled with top quality tools and gold coins and you could be like many craigslist buyers and offer him $2.50. If he'll deliver it to you so you don't have to waste 7 hours driving each way.

But yes...sometimes you can get a gold mine for 20 bucks. I've run across deals like this before where the box was loaded. This guys attitude I don't care he can keep it. Id have prov went and bought it if he wasn't a ****.

I see this as a two way street. I've waited a 1/2 hour past meet time several times and got a no show when someone said they wanted to look at something I had. It's a waste of my time. I consider time a commodity just like whatever I have to sell and just like my boss always did. After a few too many "no Shows", I seldom list on CL unless I have good pics but I also state in the ad that I don't wait. There' a$$ hoes on both sides.

so youd rather me show up and then say, "sorry to waste your time, but im not interested in a rusted out beat up box?" if the guy could have answered a few simple questions, id have went and got it "sight unseen" if there was a picture i might not even have called if it was a waste of time. its real simple to have a picture for reference. how many times have you seen an ad that says BRAND NEW IN THE BOX and when you click on the ad it looks like its been sitting outside in a ditch? LIKE NEW, but its full of scratches and rust? a picture dictates the sale. a seller can talk it up all they want, but we all have different standards for a purchase. a picture levels the playing field between the buyer and the seller.

Yep. sums it up. Bought a set of coilpacks today supposed to be 50....guy only gave me one side (4) for a v8. His picture shows a Full set 8, and was advertised as a set. They go for 120-150 a set. He said 50 was just for one side. Ended up getting a full set for 75. Still a good deal but not great. Most ads are very misleading, mostly because sellers are morons most of the time. Guy had a huge "****" tatoo in block letters on his neck. Odd.

Nawwww... never happen... They just want to unload it because... yeah.

That, and the grainy, crappy, out of focus and dark pictures are there TO hide something. Usually something broken or forked up. DOn't know how many times I've chased a CL ad only to find that, oh gee, the other side of the motorcycle that the guy "forgot" to shoot a pix of has missing covers, crushed tank, and a cracked and leaky case from being driven into the ground on that side.

I always call and ask questions. You get a jerkoff like that guy (and yes, I've seen a few) f*** him (and no, I wouldn't).

Maybe putting an ad, not in the Men seeking Men (he may like that, probably does thinking about it) but in the Men seeking Other. Somewhere between a rancher with lonely herd of bottle-fed billy goats to a **** leather, latex, and Lollypop gender-questionable (OK, with sheep of their very own)...

Well said! I have not used craigs list, but use Kijiji here in Canada and run into the same sh&t.

Not hard for all of us that are computer literate. I see lots of adds from people who have had to have another person post it.

I've listed stuff for my father because he didn't have any clue how anything like that works. He realizes that the posting will be made using a computer, but ******* freely about technology. He asked me once to email his add to the paper to put in the classifieds. If someone called him looking for pictures, he'd probably ask them for an address so he could drop prints in the mail.

Not everyone who posts on CL has a smartphone on their hip just waiting to texts pics. If he was unwilling to work with you, don't buy it, and let the matter rest.

I have a friend who has this sellers mindset. If the seller puts lots of great pics he will likely get more money but since he has not included pic fewer people will even look at his add much less take the time to call him. his loss your gain, if this sounds like what you want go look at it, if not, don't. He chose not to post pic likely from laziness or lack of skill, ability or knowledge, you asking for pics was rather foolish. If you are willing to put the effort into looking at a box in person you could get a steal or waste your time, it's a gamble. The possible downside sure seems minimal to the potential upside.
