I haven't seen grips like that before. Can you post a photo of the part # on the other side? Does is say Made in USA or Meadville, PA?

I'm not sure about that particular set but I think they used that arrow pattern on tools in the mid~late sixties.

I have had blue handled locks from as far back as the 70's I have owned a hundred pairs or more and never seen a ribbed handled pair like yours. There are a lot of knock offs that have blue handles and no stamps or marks.

I purchased a 6" set of linesmans pliers with similar grips for $.25

They are not replacement handles. They came like that, but the timeline is hard to tell. I don't believe it was for very long. If I had to guess it would be later than 1970, but earlier than 1975 or so.

I can't help you on a date but I sure like those handles! Too bad they aren't made like that anymore.

I can check my 1966 Channellock catalog when I get home, but I recall it saying that pliers were available with or without blue plastic grips. Never noticed whether or not they had the pattern, but I've never seen it.

I just looked at my 1967 Channellock catalog and there is mention of a slip on plastic grips as well as dipped plastic grips, so I'm betting that's what these are, slip on plastic grips.

I've never seen anything like that, but they appear to be the real deal. Nice find.

Picked these up a while back and today finally decided to research them. I think I've found the right place.

I thought these were just an early version of their blue handles or early insulated type. Mystery of the hard plastic solved.

The oldest Channellock have the designs that are on those slip on grips in the metal handles. Then they moved to those you have pictured 3bay. Now, nothing unfortunately.

Yes, I've seen many of those. Pliers were quite fancy back then. Now a days more utilitarian. Probably cost way too much to add all the designs. These just struck me as odd.

I have a pair of nippers with those style grips. VERY comfortable.

They remind me of the old Klein red grips that slipped on.
