Alright garage junkies... I am wanting to see all of the engineered steel barns and garages. I am in my design stage of my barn and trying to decide if I want to pole barn or metal building. There are tons of threads and pics of pole barns, I want to see some metal buildings.

Thanks,
Greg

Google Morton Buildings, my literature is coming in the mail in a few days! I have already priced out stick built for my 40x60x16 and cannot wait to see what steel is comparatively.

Morton is a pole barn. He wants pics of engineered steel buildings that have steel structure instead of wood structure.

Good luck in your endeavor. I had an all steel building built last year and if I did it over I would stick build (not a pole barn). Easier to wire, insulate and finish on the interior. Easier to make window, door and ventilation changes later. Cost of any of these building types is a wash when it all said and done.

I have currently found these manufactures and have literature coming from them.

Olympia
Rhino
Heritage
Armstrong

Once the documents come in, I will post whatever info/pics I can from each manufacture. I am hoping some literature will come in electronic form. I will not be posting pricing info on the forums. If you would like to know that, please PM me.

Thanks,
Greg

Again, if anyone has had a pre-engineered steel garage or barn built, let's see them! Thanks guys.

If there are enough combustibles it would not matter if it was a steel structure or wood, only the time it takes to consume the building.

We had a local commercial steel building burn recently and there was nothing left when it was all said and done.

it still seems steel would be better in a fire, there is still the difference of burning the fuel thats inside versus being fuel. I dont have that much flammable material inside, ive limited the use of wood on anything inside except for some plywood shelves, for me its more because of the critters than fire, but if its a concern it could be managed.

fishboy, you didnt mention how big you want to go, there are some tecnologies that are better depending on size. Ive seen small spans do very well with metal framed trusses and larger spans seem to lend themselves more to beam, your snow load is significant as well, with the past winter they may even up the requirements

I just signed a contract for a 40'x60'x16' steel building (Star) with a local installer. No pics yet, but they all pretty much look the same! (At least to me, LOL!)

Considering we are in a high fire area, steel makes the most sense (and the easiest to get through the permitting); I'm still waiting to hear whether they are going to make me sprinkle it.

I'm talking with Barns.com for a metal building. Looking at 24'x30'x10' with two 9' roll ups, 1 man door and 2 windows. Doing a metal building saves almost $4000 over a similar pole building for me...

Man was I disappointed when I read your reply, I took a friends word for it and ordered their catalog thinking they produced both post and steel buildings. :(

Back to the drawing board, which is this thread!
