Here's the deal.

I'm planing to make a trip to USA next week.

I want to treat myself to a nice new ultrasonic cleaner.

Why? To clean some nuts and bolts, maybe rent it or do some carb cleaning on the side, clean spark plugs an reused fouled iridium. Make its more a gadget that a real tool for now but I'm pretty sure I'll use it.

Choices:

1- Buy the one at harbour freight 2.5L, 70US , I'm scared that the carburator
- even not on a rack of 4 they wont fit fully in the dept of it.
- I'd like to be able to fit a rack of 4...

2- Use my amazon.ca gift card (I have around 225$) and call it done.

If on amazon, here's the model... do you think that I could fit caburators as for dept and maybe a rack of 4?? I don't have one in hand...

This one, 6.5L tank size: Tank size:300mm X 155mm X 150mm

Maybe this one?

6L Tank size: 12.8" x 8.0" x 3.9".

Is there a better deal for around 250$?

Would I better go to the HF one and just turn the carbs over...

This is something else to do with an ultrasonic cleaner. Drop an open coke in it and watch it almost explode out of the top. Same effect at dropping "mintoes" in one.

Ultrasonic cleaners are expensive. I got lucky & bought a used 2.5 gal Branson for $100.00, without the top cover & basket. The basket I've needed for years and didn't realize how expensive they are. I finally broke down 3 months ago and found a cheap one for $100.00. I would probably shop around the auctions or industrial surplus stores first, however that first one with the cover & basket is a good deal, not quite wide enough for me, but its a good deal. I would avoid the last one.

Thanks

Why would you avoir the last one? Of 100$ more I could have the same model as the first one but 10liters. Its almost square.

The best advice I can offer you regarding new ultrasonic cleaners is you get what you pay for with these machines. Cleaning ability is directly proportional to price. Spend a little more and you will be happier over the life of the machine. Also, don't skimp on the cleaning solution. I bought Sharpertek carb cleaning solution and nothing that I have used or concocted previously even came close to the Sharpertek stuff.

I have a Sharpertek unit I use for cleaning guns (and the occasional carb) and it works very well. Can't speak to the HF unit...

Before buying the Sharpertek, I looked at the HF. IMO the two are not even comparable. I have had the Sharpertek for a few years. This fall, I will tackle a six carb Honda Valkyrie tear down and rebuild. The carb set is sitting on my workbench at the moment waiting for all the parts to show up. I find that between the Sharpertek carb solution (shellac buster) and the heat function of the unit, carbs come out spotless. I use the unit mostly for motorcycle and small engine carbs and occasionally cleaning really dirty brass for reloading.
