Never had that brand before but those old ones like that are usually pretty heavy duty. I would try to get it for $150. If old vises never come up near you and that's what you want...you may have to pay his price. If it's what you really want.

personally, for $100 or less I'd jump on it. For $150 I'd be thinking hard about it. For $200 I'd have to really want a vintage vise. But, even at $200 it's probably more than twice as strong as whatever chinese **** you can get in the store for $100 or so new. So $200 would hurt, but it's not off in lunatic-ville

When it comes to vises, I don't know **** from Shinola. Is this a quality vise? Price does seem high. http://kansascity.craigslist.org/tls/3856644894.html

It looks like a quality old USA vise but that price is rediculous. I'd say $50-75 is max.

For $225 you should be able to get a nice 3.5-4" Wilton machinist vise any day on Ebay.

Rule of thumb for smaller (non Wilton Bullet) vises like this is $1/lb. That vise looks to be around 30-40 lbs. It's a 4" vise (not 8"). Vise size is based on jaw width.

Thats a decent vise but the price is a bit high, should be able to get something like that for under $100. I got a simlar sized Reed 204 1/2 for $40.

There are alot of vises to be had in KC. That is $150 more than it's worth. Look for auctions in the area or hit some garage sales. I gave $45 for a 5" Snap-On/ Wilton bullet and a 6' steel bench on a farm sale.

Yes, good quality older vise, but way overpriced. No way the seller has much of anything invested, so he's just trying to make bucks. Make him an offer and he may come around.

Slightly OT, but most craigslist sellers understand it's the nature of the market to try to buy low. Like spam e-mails, they can just hit "delete" on any too-low offers and save the possibilities for when it has to get gone.

I saw that CL ad a few days ago. I agree, it seems over priced to me. On the other hand, I also noticed on KC CL when I did a search for vises that was one of only a couple for sale on THAT day. I don't watch it regularly, but my thought was, maybe I need to post a couple of vises myself since they seem to be short. But I haven't yet.

Supply and demand.

I figured it was way overpriced. Vises do not show up too often on CL around here and when they do, they are overpriced. I bought a new Ridgid F50 and don't really need another vise but was curious about this one since I am unfamiliar with the brand. Thanks for the help.
