Whats everyone think of Campbell Air tools like their impacts 1/2" and 3/8"?

Looks like all the tools I see now are Taiwan made home owner grade, when looking at the prices $29 for an impact ect.. Did CH ever have a following with professional users?

I picked up a used 3/8 CH professional impact for $10. I also own a used 1/2 Impact from them I got for free and works pretty good also..

Never hear much about the tools from this company..

I have a CH compressor from the early 1990's that's Made in USA. It has been a very good compressor.

These days though, I think they're just another reseller who slaps their stickers on imported tools.

i have had a 1/2" impact for 15+ years. Nothing flashy, but I almost never oil it, it gets moist air, and i have used it as a hammer and just generally tossed it around. it is still working fine to pull lugnuts off and other fun stuff.

I sell a lot of Campbell air guns, and they rarely give any trouble. The only complaint i ever get is that they are a tad heavy. Most of their lines have either a 2 or 3 year warranty also, which is not to be sniffed at.

I bought this CH grinder set at Home Depot back in 1995. Over the past 16 years, I've used it many times for DIY projects and repairs around my house. It was made in Taiwan. I've been very happy with its performance. It's met or exceeded my expectations and held up really well. For a DIYer like me, I've been very happy with this CH air tool.

Had a die grinder and 3/8 impact. The 3/8 was real light weight and only had a max of 80ft-lbs. I would use it as a "fast nut runner" to run down smaller fasteners before setting final torque, w/o the risk of over torquing. The thing was weak and controllable enough to handle transmission pan/diff cover bolts into the aluminum case (magnesium diff case) w/o over torquing or stripping, but much faster than a ratchet/air ratchet.

That was a mostly every day use.

The grinder is a bit too weak to sustain good pressure on steel. It still works, just not as fast as more powerful units.

I've HAD a CH 1/2" impact wrench. It didn't have enough nuts to take the lugnuts off my vehicles. I still have a CH air chisel that works great! I also have an older set of deep CH impact sockets that have been great! I guess it just depends on which CH product you get. YMMV.

Similar here, I bought afew of thier tools in the mid to late 90's and they have held up. I have used the 3" cutoff wheel ALOT and it's still going strong. I also have a 3/8" air rachet that has seen some use. I'm just a hobbiest so they have been good to me for the price.

I want to note that these CH air tools I have are all metal, not plastic housings like I see today.

I bought a CH pro air ratchet with the chrome head on sale in the early 90s that was made in Taiwan. It was purchased through Home Depot. I did like it so I bought a second one and put it away. The big problem was the first one blew the planetary gears out of it a month latter and was kind of worried about the same issue happening with the second one I bought. There was some debate at first if Home Depot would replace the first one but they ended up doing so. The replacement still works today and the back up was still in the box up till around 6 months ago:thumbup:.

My grinder is all metal. I remember buying it because it seemed to be well made and the price was right.

dad had a 1/2'' impact that was a CH. he really didn't care for it as he said it was heavy and didn't pack enough punch. he later invested in a IR2131. i believe he also had a little CH die grinder, but i don't recall it getting used a great deal so i really can't comment on it.

I used to run a tool repair shop, CH was one of the lines that we did warranty work for. They -were- half decent but about 5 years ago the quality went downhill.

Their compressors are OK (oil lube units, not the oilless) but the tools don't impress me.

Read the fine print in your "warranty" statement. Basicly the only thing that is covered is if the housing somehow crumbles in your toolbox it will be covered.

On the impact guns, they don't cover any air motor components or any impact mechanism parts! Other tools are similar.
