I talked to Mark at CH's tech line today about some replacement parts and asked it they had an 'auto' drain valve for their 80 gal tanks.

He said they have been field testing one for 6 months and will be releasing it for sale some time this July.

No price point yet.

Model CE000200AV

120V, 60Hz 1 Amp
35 to 130F
Inlet: 1/4-18 NPT (F) 1/2-14 NPT (M)

Outlet: 1/4-18 NPT (F) 1/2-14 NPT (M)

Timer:
Interval 0.5 min to 45 min
Discharge:

I tried to attach the pdf file but it's too big @ 812 KB.

I use an Auto Drain from Ingersal Rand.

I mounted it Low...made a bracket that mounts to the tank leg.
a rubber discharge hose that goes outside (so it doesnt catch ya off-guard).
Its on my Campbell Hausfeld (Grainger) 60 Gallon tank.

Thanks guys.

I found a new DYNAQUIP AD1B1/2 Drain Valve that I'm going to plumb up with the discharge outside of the garage for the same reason.

I use an IR auto drain as well... it wasn't cheap but it wasn't a fortune either, works very well for six years now.
