I am hoping to get this 80 gallon compressor from an estate. I was told $750 which I think is pretty good. It is a US made head with a 7.5 HP, 230V 1PH motor. This thing is a beast and very heavy. The cheapest I have seen a new one was about $1800 plus shipping. What do you all think?

I'd run it and see what CFM output it has:

Also, check to see if parts are available (reed assembly etc.) just in case.

unfortunately I cannot run it in place but I know the person running the sale and he guarantees that it at least works or he will give me my money back. From what I read it should be about 25 CFM at 90 psi.

I have the same compressor. Been going for me for at least 20 years now. Just sold a brand new dual stage Ingersoll Rand that was $1,670 because the old girl will out work it 3-1, easy. This compressor is loud, it makes alot of racket from the cage, it's old, it's a BRUTE! WORK HORSE! I can sandblast 15hr a day every day and won't skip a beat. It's been there and done that many times. A tip I wI'll give you is wire it directly into the box. Skip a plug. It will last you a lifetime. Enjoy.

Thanks for the information and the advice. I already have a plug wired with the existing compressor so I will start with that for now. I plan on adding a muffler if it is much louder than the current one and see if that helps. I hope the cage isn't too bad. I might have to try to quiet that down some depending on how bad it is. I could possibly remove it because of where it will be located, well away from everyone in a corner not very accessible. We shall see. Hoping to pick it up the week after next. Possibly sooner.
