We had the same issue in our laundry room. The builder did not order the cabinet, sink, faucet, or counter top. Completely forgot about it. I could share stories for a week straight with all of the screw ups my builder and contractors have made.

It seems to be a universal constant. I mean I'm extremely grateful that we're able to use a custom builder, the quality of work is miles above the track homes around here. But the process is so freaking painful. Having to do almost a dozen separate meetings to pick all the options was time consuming and frustrating. Because of that I can understand why there were errors, too many people involved and not enough communication.

In the end though it's going to be an awesome house and I still can't believe it's going to be our house. As someone with long running major medical issues I never thought I'd be able to afford anything like this.

Well some major progress has been made. First the builder finally got the sink in the laundry room at no cost to me, which I am very glad they did. The whole first floor flooring is done and it looks awesome IMO! Exterior paint is also done and while it's not exactly what my wife was hoping for (she was going for more teal than blue) it does look really good I think. Starting to get the finishing touches on things though there is still a good bit left to do. The wife is absolutely obsessed with the kitchen back splash, that was her biggest design choice and she is extremely happy with how it looks.

Still haven't sold our old house but we found a way to close on the new one without selling the old one. Thankfully we have some family that is able to help us there. We should start getting more showings in January.

Haven't posted in a while but the house is just about done. We're closing on Friday and should be moved in a few days later. Our old house is still not sold but we should have a contract this week (doing the back and forth negotiations right now with a buyer). Ended up having to borrow a good chunk of money (our whole down payment on the new house that is coming from the sale of our old house) to make everything work. Thank God for helpful in laws.

Once everything is actually done later this week I'll get some good pictures. Still had a few rough spots with getting some issues sorted out with the builder. One big one is they forgot that I had ordered gas heat for the 2nd floor and only put in a heat pump. Adding that meant running a gas line to the 3rd floor and moving the whole unit because there wasn't enough room where it was originally situated. In the end though everything will be resolved though and the house is looking really good. Despite the issues the workmanship is really good and the final product is well made.

In completely unrelated news some lovely person broke our mailbox, JB Weld saved the day there. Also I started making my first knife from a file. That's been a good stress reliever lately.

Now I need to start figuring out how I'm going to organized and lay out the garage. I want to do cabinets (New Age?) but I can't really get started until I can pull the cars in and start taking some measurements. I need to dig through garage builds here and see what I want to do. Also need to decide on the flooring for the garage.

One thing I totally forgot to mention here. I got t-boned in the M5 about a month ago. It's still getting repaired so I'm in a rental right now. I really miss it right now, I haven't even seen it in over a month.

Sorry, had a lot going on the last few months and totally forgot to update here. We moved in at the end of January and got our old house sold by the end of February. The new house is mostly great, however there is still a fairly large punch list of items to fix. I highly recommend not moving into a new construction house until everything is fixed/finished. It's been fairly annoying having to get things fixed once you're moved in. Plus the builder is busy so getting them out here is difficult on its own. Definitely learned my lesson. Most of it is minor but there are some fairly annoying ones (like our front door sticks really badly, two people have come out to adjust it and it's only gotten worse).

Since we moved in I've yet to be able to get both cars in the garage, which is frustrating. We had some furniture that we decided not to use in the house that is taking up space in the garage, we've not had any luck trying to sell it. So most of the time the M5 sits outside. At least it did finish getting fixed and the vinyl wrap re-done. It's filthy though because I haven't been able to wash it or clean the interior.

My health has been **** which has made getting things done around the house very difficult. I had another major surgery on 5/9 to get a spinal cord stimulator implanted. The surgery was rough, my neurosurgeon said it was the most difficult SCS he's ever done. I have a ton of scar tissue from previous surgeries which made it hard. So far though we have not been able to get it to work on my chronic pain, which really *****. Hoping some reprogramming of the device will be able to get it there but it's going to take time.

Hopefully if I can get my health/pain under control I'll be able to do the 150 odd projects around the house. I was able to tackle one minor one this past weekend, which was to mount my networking equipment in the downstairs closet. I still need to tidy up the wires but it's nice to get everything off the floor. I've also got my VMware host which runs my domain sitting on the floor. The closet gets warm but not hot, which I'm happy with.

Threw in some pics of the car and the front of the house, the disgusting garage mess as well as my disaster of an office. I have too much **** but I know the instant I throw something away I'll need it the next week...
