Cams for mill table locks?

Anyone have cam levers for locking their tables instead of twist style? Im thinking it could be a good upgrade as mine are on the underside as opposed to on the front.

Ok.. Ill take that as a 'no' lol.

Think I may give it a try as it would a lot easier to flip a cam than turn a handle and it would use less space.

For Bridgeport style machines a cam lock wouldn’t work as the screw type seats against the saddle where a cam lock type of setup would pull away from the saddle. I’m sure something could be made to work but there would be a lot of added apparatus to make work.

To lock a mill table the screw moves in and jams the gib against the moving way locking things up. On my machine the handle moves through ~ quarter of a turn from lock to release. I'm curious as to how you are getting a cam to press on the gib and move less than what a properly adjusted handle will move.

The cam could be set-up to push a plunger onto the gibb instead of pulling the plunger out, however I don't see a plunger being as stable as a screw in that threaded hole, and Larry is right the twist handles are fairly efficient movement and force wise, hard to beat the design, and the cam will not likely match the force either, but may be possible show us your attempts. Harry
