Can any of the Stubby Snap-On Ratchets like F710BK, F710K, FK720, or FK720A be converted to Quick Release with a Snap-On Repair Kit?

The 710 and 720 would take different kits. they would need the hole in top of the rat.

So I bought a cheaper Snap-On 3/8" FK720 ratchet. I bought and installed a RKRAF723 Quick Release repair kit.

What I learned:
You can not use any of the old internals.
The old selector switch would not move with new quick release.
After I replaced all the selector switch parts to new, everything worked when holding the cover plate in place. If I put in the old screws into the cover plate, the gear would bind. I was about to give up and put all the old parts back into the ratchet. At the last second, I decided to put the new screws into the cover plate. SUCCESS!!

Works like a champ!

👍Yes they can. The 70 & 710 series can use kit RKRA713. And the 720 & 730 series can use kit RKRAF723. The head caps on the 720 & 730 models will need to be removed, or if you still have the older black or red plastic headcaps you can cut away the cap to open up the back of the head, and still use that same bushing if you have to. Just take obvious care when doing this to not damage the rat head. If you are installing the complete kit, you can install the F723 bushing into the 720 or 730 head, it will fit appropriately into those models as well, just as it fits into the F723 ratchet. I have even used the F723 gear in older F71 models, and it works like a dream to replace those old 30 tooth non Q-R gears that have worn out gear assemblies with broken teeth. That's one of the things I love about these older S-O ratchets, they have a good amount of interchangeable parts for them if parts break, they can still be repaired fairly easily. Regards.👍-JS

That is one of the great things about Snap-On is that they have spare parts for the older stuff. You can get a ratchet from your father or grandfather and can repair them.
