Can Anybody ID this vice?

Hi Everybody!

today I scored a workbench for $50 and it had this here free vice on it

Seems generally in working order but I think I'm gonna try to restore it up real pretty. But I can't find a single mark or stamp on it, anybody got any leads on What it might be or where I might be able to buy a replacement lower jaw for it?

Jaws are 6" and it's about 2' long overall.

It's most likely a Chinacom vise. Have one sitting outside as as daily beater. There were A few different names they were sold under.

Something tells me it was made in China with some of are old melted down Chevy Nova cars mind you this is only a guess, it could have been old melted down Edsel cars, or the boat anchor from the SS minnow ?


Someone will know the answer to your question, maybe if you posted it in the vise section you might get a quicker answer faster.

So I was right it was not from the SS minnow but rather from an old Edsel...Hard to tell them apart I guess?

It’s a Offshore vise. The other side of the jaw your missing is another V jaw. It’s easier and cheapier to make them probably buy. They actually usefully vises if don’t beat on them.

Nahhhh it’s not going to explode. Well, not that I know of. LOL I’ve owned one before and one currently.

Thanks guys. I 'discovered' the vise thread after I'd posted here and didn't wanna cross post/couldn't figure out how to delete so I just went with it.

Hmmmmm, funny you mention that cuz the reason I need a new vise is my 4.5" china special for some completely unknown reason decided it didn't like it when I used a hammer AND a 4' cheater on it and shattered for no dang reason whatsoever!
