Can anybody identify this saw?

I got this at a garage sale today for $10. There is nothing identifying it anywhere. It might be missing a piece on the spindle. Seems like there should be a backing bushing or something. It runs nice. No sparks or any of that "electrical smell". Needs a new cord. Here are a couple pics.

I also got this. I was planning to put something like it in the vanity in my little garage bathroom. It works great. I don't plan on leaving it on when I'm not out there. A newer version of the same brand sells for about $175. I paid $15. for it. Not much lost if it doesn't last.

That saw looks a lot like my B&D industrial chopsaw ( now Dewalt) or a clone of it, that some one painted blue

Thanks William. I'm gonna get that blue off of it and see what it takes to get a blade on it. Maybe I'll find some ID, maybe not, but hey, it works.

Paul after running mine today to cut up some re-bar I'm 100% sure that it is a B&D industrial ( later became a Dewalt) or an exact clone of it. Mine looks exactly like yours sans the paint and rust Your missing the washers and nut for the blade. I bet you can still get them from Dewalt. They were/are one of the better chopsaws sold. If you want to restore yours I will take a picture of mine so you can see how they look "stock" The motor and aluminum frame aren't painted.

Wow, thanks a lot William. That sounds good. I did look up Dewalt parts for the washer and nut and they appear to be shaped to fit the shaft although they don't give dimensions. Fairly cheap too. A couple of pics of yours would be a great help as I would like it to look close to "stock". Thanks for taking the time to respond!

Generally a very weak saw that has a tendency to kick back. They were a low priced unit when sold new. You have to play this model to keep the RPM high or you will burn up the motor if you are doing any serious cutting. I've destroyed several. Decent home owner saw but not great for a guy who uses it daily.

Also not true. That saw when it was new ( 25 years ago) was about the same price as all the other saws made at the time, other than the Milwaukee that was about 10-15% more expensive.

This is true of any of these light duty portable saws, it's not a 20' 10hp chopsaw. I could if I wanted, burn up ANY portable saw by jamming the thing into the cut....

I have used mine to cut lots of material, and I have used others ( same brand to make THOUSANDS of cuts) and I have never burned one up. I don't run mine much any more as I don't have much use for a portable saw, although I ran it just last week to cut up some re-bar and as always it cut it just fine. The other thing I still use it for is cutting hard stuff that is nasty on bandsaw bands.

Many Black & Decker Industrial tools became Dewalt tools, when B&D changed them to Yellow Dewalt cases from the Black Industrial.

Great.
I'm happy you get such good use out of yours. Went through 6 in a year handing them to guys on job sites to use.
Went with a different unit and had better results. Although the crew still destroyed a few of those.
The thing may work fine for you, I'm just pointing out a few of it's flaws that we had with it.
Like I said, a homeowner or DIY guy would be happy with it.
