Can anybody Identify This Vise?

I'm supposed to go pick this big vise up tomorrow. I have asked multiple times what the jaw width is, but the guy keeps neglecting that bit of info and just says it is a railroad vise. He said the model is a Chas. Parker model 10e, but im guessing that should be a 106 or 108.

So I ask the experts here? Can anybody identify the big vise in this picture? It's the only picture I have unfortunately, so hopefully the vise isn't damaged anywhere.

If you’re hoping that it has 8” wide jaws I think that you’re destined for disappointment. That looks like it probably has 6” wide jaws at most.

Yeah, I agree. I'm actually worried it is only a 5". I may actually pass on it since the guy wont tell me the actual jaw width.

The more I look at the pictures and knowing that the green vise is a Little Daddy, and I am guessing a 4" jaw on it, that would mean the parker, if scaled up, is probably a 5" jaw, which makes sense if he thought it said it was a 10e, when in fact it says 106.

Yeah, I was also trying to use the floor boards to scale from. If the floor boards are 3" wide, that would make the vise a 5".

I sent the guy multiple messages asking what the jaw width was, and he kept ignoring me, so when he finally acknowledged the question, he said "I don't know how I would measure that". So I sent him a picture with a diagram explaining what to measure. Hopefully he gets back to me. If it is a 5" I'm going to pass. If it is a 6" I will be interested. I have a specific need (more of a want) for a 6" or greater vise, and a 5" wont cut it.

Looks like standard T&G flooring, it's 3-1/4" across the top of each board. I'm guessing the vise jaws are 4-1/2" wide, or maybe 5.
If it's damaged, then negotiate or pass.

Doing a bit more investigating. Assuming the jaws are 5" wide, that would make the total length of the vise 21", which is right in line with the length of a Parker #106. So I will probably pass on it. He was asking more than I wanted to pay, but I was assuming a 6" or 8" vise and was going to step up since they never come up for sale around here. Unless he comes back and can prove it is 6" or more, I will decline. It's not worth the drive.

He finally got back to me and said the jaws measure 5 1/2" across. So I am even more lost. I guess it is possible that it is a 106 1/2, but can't find any pictures or info on those.

I passed on it. I didn't want to ask anymore questions. It was literally hours between when I would ask a question and he would answer, even if I wrote him back right away.

You should def email that crank a few more questions.. threads per inch on the screw, iron composition, etc.
