I picked it up at a yard sale today, and having doubts it's an actual snap on box.
I know the emblem says snap on, but there's no model or serial number on it that I've found so far.
looks more like a machine chest than anything. either way it's going to pull garage duty once I restore it. it's heavy as heck, well used but not abused 5f554bbd388507e22b6c1fb3414f6df4.jpg064251610f5d909ea7803e28724cf45d.jpg6fef9f419e89dd4c10a7cac424bb0963.jpg

now the real question

repaint or not repaint?
finish is rough, looks like it's been repainted at some point
some flaking

If the finish is original, then keep it original and enjoy the patina that only decades of use can provide. If the box was already repainted at some point in its history, then do whatever will make you happiest.

Just my two cents...

What you have is older top box that is now wearing a newer snap on badge. It will not be stamped because of its age. kr 56.

can you provide an example of the period correct logo and an approximate age?
I'd like to keep it accurate if possible

the finish is original Ish.
it looks like it was repainted a while ago and now the old paint is peeling. I've attached a photo to get your opinion
