can anyone help me ID this box

I picked it up at a yard sale today, and having doubts it's an actual snap on box.
I know the emblem says snap on, but there's no model or serial number on it that I've found so far.
looks more like a machine chest than anything. either way it's going to pull garage duty once I restore it. it's heavy as heck, well used but not abused

That IS a Snapon box. Look very carefully on the lower right rear corner and it should be stamped in there.

That is definitely a Snap On, you can tell by the ***** drawn on it.

check the lower back panel for a faint stamp of the model number and date of mfg.

finish is rough, looks like it's been repainted at some point

If the finish is original, then keep it original and enjoy the patina that only decades of use can provide. If the box was already repainted at some point in its history, then do whatever will make you happiest.

What you have is older top box that is now wearing a newer snap on badge. It will not be stamped because of its age. kr 56.

Have had the same boxes since the mid/late sixties. Did repaint once.

Yep, it's a 1950's KR-56 with a 1960s badge on it.

the finish is original Ish.
it looks like it was repainted a while ago and now the old paint is peeling. I've attached a photo to get your opinion
