I have had several similar, and have one or two now.
That one is either a tackle or a tool box. Most of Kennedy's tackle boxes have compartments in all four trays, while their tool boxes have dividers only in the bottom two trays...or fewer.
The green colored steel boxes are older. Newer boxes used steel for the trays, and after that they went to all-aluminum boxes...inside and out.
They sometimes also painted the steel trays tan colored inside. Don't know why/when changes were made.
Thanks, I'd like to be able to date it. I have a request in at Kennedy, but I'm not holding my breath. Nothing against them, just wouldn't be surprised if they had better things to do.
The box is all steel. A lot of what I first thought was oxidation (rust) on the outside is actually the original Kennedy Brown paint.
The inside trays are steel. You can see green paint under the cantilever tray mounts, where the mounts screened the silver paint.
It has one latch, looks like newer ones have two or three.
It has a leather handle, attached by "D" rings. Newer ones seem to have a hard swivel type mounting.
I'm hoping the latch and handle will yield some clues to the age.
Or maybe the single latch and leather handle signify it is a tackle box rather than tool box.
I'm also in Ohio as is Kennedy, so I'm hoping I'll be able to get some more details about the box.
Its an interesting piece to me, even if it isn't worth a lot.

After a mild cleaning, some of the silver paint came off. You can see some rust in the lower left, but most of the rest of the dark areas (in this photo) are just the original brown Kennedy paint.
