Can anyone ID this vise for me?

Hello all,

Picked up this small-ish vise recently at a garage sale. No markings what so ever, no country of production, nothing. Any ideas what it may be?

The photo is huge, sorry about that. The jaws are about 4 to 5".

Lots of vises like this, both US and foreign. Generally only for very light duty - not the strongest design. Also the exposed spindle/mainscrew gets grit on it and who remembers to keep that wiped off? So it wears quicker.

I'd certainly use one if I already had it.

Probably an import.

Most likely produced in India or Pakistan.

Whoever owned it found it was a piece of **** and treated it accordingly.

Base anchor slots instead of holes, exposed screw threads, undemanding quality of fit between the jaws and inserts and I am assuming 30,000 psi or less steel. And, as mentioned the paint...

Look at the illustration here: http://www.milwmal.com/v_hand.htm Made in USA. Many nearly identical old US made vises on ebay from various makers.

In fact, Milwaukee's top-of-the-line machinist vises are grey iron, 30k psi tensile max.

Base anchor slots more likely foreign. No guarantee though.

Jaws and inserts beat up. In fact the static jaw shelf is broken off. May well have had better fit when new.

Paint color does seem most likely Asian.

If I threw in my two cents, it would increase the price of your 50 cent vise above its value.

So the Verde green Wilton bullets are Asian imports?
