Can anyone identify these pliers?

I may be asking the impossible here but, if anyone would have a vague idea of this, it's you all here. These have to have some considerable age on them but, they are pretty comfortable and feel really, quite solid. They have "Drop FORGED" on them around the center bolt but, the G is pretty much non-existant either due to mfg. error or much use. They do have some wiggle/wobble around the post so they aren't perfect but, pretty for finding them on the lot.

Any thoughts, suggestions, guesses, or anything else is welcome. I'm trying to place them want a vague idea of what I've got here. They just seem way to hefty, smooth, and strudy to be no-name or **** pliers.

I would venture to say the handles aren't original, so you *might* be able to heat them up in hot water (like you would with Klein replacement handles) and slip them back slightly. There might be something under there to reveal more info. The shape of the opening in the back side of the cutter is peculiar, but I can't quite place it.

@StevenBiars: That opening is what got me thinking these may be better than the average free find. I'll try pulling the handles back later today and see if that reveals anything.

@Kevin54: I'll do some checking and see if I can find something from them. Thanks for the suggestion! Looks like a good start, anyway. They look remarkably similar to the Utica 50 lineman's pliers! Any further thoughts on what these may be worth? There are no tangible markings so I can't surely sell them as fact but, they are a pretty solid pair.

I don't think the grips were slipped on, if you loot near the business end, you can see the end of the plastic grips are parallel to each other, indicating they were dipped.

I think the key to any ID will be the shape of the cutter relief cutout. Possibly that was for a special crimping job, I don't see much usefulness for using on, say a nut.

Well, I think I have a tad bit more info. but, nothing definitive. It appears that, around the pin it says "DROP FOR" (Obviously, very likely drop forged) and, underneath that, I can make out "TAI" so, these are looking like imported pliers. No Utica's for me :-(

The teeth DO seem to line up well but, there is about a 1/16" to 1/8" "play" in the pliers. Any ther suggestions on narrowing it down? I am *hoping* that the TAI (or IAI) isn't the COO but, I wouldn't count my carrots on that.

I have a set that looks remarkably similar. I've had them for well over 20 years. I'll post a pic of them when I get back in the shop. I don't remember what name is on them, but IIRC there is some markings left.

The pair I have is a 6" pair, not a 8½ or 9", might be the same mfr. A long shot, but maybe...

Mine measure about 7-1/4" nose to handle. (Sounds kinda dirty).

The jaws open to 1-1/4" wide at the tip.

These feel like really darn solid pliers so I want to figure out what they are! Hopefully you can shed some light. That cable cutter side really is unique and I haven't seen others with a similar cutout. Hopefully you can provide another glimpse at a similar pair!
