I have been going through some old tool boxes that have been put away for about 25 years. This old wrench has been around forever I do think it was in Dads box. Just curious. Thanks, Jim27e792b15a9640bfff50954110795a00.jpg5fef47b982d403ff5af5627345f1bcad.jpge50d2661dafa817af7ed9b1e2f5c4580.jpg95e02080205729e74ae7a523f2baf80d.jpg

Thanks guys
I have been going through old boxes and picking some things out. My plan is to restore Dads old tool box and put what I know was his back in it.
This old wrench was around as long as I can remember. We always called it the monkey wrench.

Lugz,
What are the features that let you know immediately that Vlchek was the manufacturer? I see unmarked auto wrenches frequently but never can figure out who made them.

Vlchek was the only mfgr making them with the 'sweep' in the handle. Even without the logo and forge number tics, the sweep handle is the IDing characteristic. Btw, OP, I know it's precious to you orange, but just FYI, it was undoubtedly black japan or plain steel originally.

Op Yes I know about the spot welded body design but you want to see and compare the numbers only.

Private is dead spot on your wrench is indeed a Vlchek wrench and again he is spot on the original color was indeed black or plain steel.

Color aside it means a lot to you so keep it orange and enjoy it.:thumbup::thumbup:

I dont know why the other pics make it look orange it's actually regal red.
After lugz gave me the name I did find a lot of info on it and did in fact find out about the black finish. Also a version of it is available on amazon. I'm not sure yet but I may blast it and put a hot BLO finish on it. At any rate I do appreciate all of the input guys. Now I know what it is!911b97847497d05ae98c74cbaca57ec1.jpg73f4f1b057921ab92ce0f91ed061c951.jpg
