Searching on-line I’ve found this:
“Aluminum will be very susceptible to galvanic corrosion in contact with copper, assuming that the two metals are also in contact with a common electrolyte (such as water with some ionic content.)”.
“The more noble, passive metal (copper or nickel) drives the corrosion of the active, less noble metal, where the passive metal remains fairly unharmed. This process will go on until the active metal is completely destroyed”
Unless I’m missing some sort of nuance, it looks like there is a very likely chance that using copper with the water present could lead to corrosion the aluminum ****** cooler.
The YouTube link below is of a guy who set up an after cooler and then had his B&M ****** cooler corroded out on him. He states this in one of his comments below the video.
Perhaps my choice of copper lines really does need to change. It’s expensive but I might need to use stainless steel braided lines. There’s a company locally which can build hoses as I wait.
