Can friction slides be converted to roller barring slides?

Can it be done? Has anyone done it or even attempted to do it?

Not really practical short of removal of the entire mechanism, and replacing it with BB slides, (supposing the BB's don't need more space than friction slide)

All of the BB slides that I've used need 1/2" of space. I think the hardest part would be removing the channel that's probably spot welded to the drawer. Then you would have to fab some sheetmetal to mount the new slides to the box.

For me, I think it would turn into one of those "what the hell was I thinkiing?" projects.

I seem to remember either Snap On or Mac used to sell conversion kits for a few of their boxes, perhaps one of the tame dealers here could enlighten.
