I want to install drywall over the garage door. The vertical studs end directly onto a laminated beam acting as the header. Can I attach drywall screws directly into the laminated beam?

I've tried to find an answer but most questions about drilling into a laminated beam have to do with drilling holes all the way through for conduit, cable, etc.

Sure. They are small holes. You could even liquid nail it on! Then no screws or screw holes.
