i have a Propane Forced Air Heater...

can i put a flexable hose out the back and through the wall to out side for fresh air ?

im use'n it now inside and after about an hour it so bad gas fumes i think im going to die ! lol...

What are you doing now for venting if after an hour the fumes are bad? You have to vent them, you can't use those in a closed/sealed space without any outside air comming in.

I use a radiant torpedo heater and leave my man door carcked afew inches to vent, and don't have any problems with fumes.

Have you tried placing the back end of it towards a partially craked door?

I don't see why not..just use a screen to keep the critters away.
On a related note: why all the jury rigging going on when it comes to heating on this forum?
I would make a priority to put in a permanent heater and be confident in the knowledge that you will be safe from fumes and flames!
The new tools can wait, safety has to be priority #1!!!!!

my shop is 1/2 of a 2 bay car port i boxed in, i am not looking for a bad ars heater in a **** ars shop..lol...you can see it there in the back...

Ah, I see your plight....gotta work with what you got.
I think you might want to try a different type of heater for smaller space.
Maybe insulate your garage with foam along the walls and ceiling first.
Using an electric heater would elminate the fumes if your electricity is somewhat inexpensive.
Propane catalitic converters might burn cleaner also if electric is out of the question.
Since your garage is close to the house, maybe you can pipe a natural gas line in and use a small 10,000 btu heater with a vented chimmey?
Or use the house furnace to heat the garage?
I guess what I am trying to say is trying to make your bullet heater work and not have fumes will be a hard thing to accomplish.

Leave a door ajar and place the back of the heater toward the open door. It will draw in the fresh air.

Those heaters can kill you... and faster than you think. When CO levels get up around 200 ppm, you need to vent asap, and not just by a cracked door.

Nothing wrong with being thrifty, frugal, or resourceful. But some things are just not the right way to go. Save a few bucks and build your own press, bench, or blast cabinet... sure, ok.

But using these heaters in confined, poorly ventilated spaces... you're going to be contributing to the funeral director's retirement home in Boca.

whats a good cheep 110 or 220 heater ?

Pugman I use the Dayton 3VU36A in my garage 21X28 and it does a great job ( have had it 80*F in here just to see how hot it would get it was in the 20's outsideand theres no insulation in my walls and not much in the attic ) . I picked mine up from Graingers locally for around $150.00 as I recall. Heres a link to Amazon it is a 220 heater but would be plenty for your shop and no fumes.

Well if you pick one up let us know how it does for you . Theres more of us here with small working garages than there are with huge showrooms . I am actually currently using mine to heat my 1300SF house since I havent installed the new HVAC system yet . I do have a few smaller heaters in the house as well.
