Can I Get Some Help Identifying This Old Kennedy Box??

I snagged this cool Kennedy across the street yesterday at my neighbor's yard sale. After spending a couple hours today both here and looking through about a zillion google images, I'm still stumped on what model, and how old, it is. I want to find a lock for it and learn whatever I can about its history.

It measures 26" long, 12" wide and 14" tall when the top is closed. It has a large folding drop-down front cover and painted Kennedy script logo rather than a name plate. It looks to be red wrinkle finish but maybe it's brown and just faded or discolored :dunno:.

No rust that I can see but it's dirty on the outside. The interior looks really good despite a bit of grunge here and there but it appears to have been loved over the years.

I'm still undecided on whether to just move my tools in, restore it first or maybe flip it either way. I do not presently have a nice box on my bench (it's cubbies, small plastic cases and some pegboard).

It wasn't exactly packed with tools but there were quite a few hand tools, a bunch of sockets and some miscellaneous stuff. Although at first blush most are Taiwanese / Chinese junk, I have the feeling a couple of them were pretty specialized -- and maybe rare and/or desirable -- so I'll share pictures of the stuff in my next post.

Thanks in advance for any input you might have! I love this place.

Here's close ups of the drawer contents.

Check this bad boy out! New Brittain 1/2" drive 1 1/8" that's 6 1/4" long! I'd guess it's for suspension work.

There's a big Craftsman 1/2" drive speed handle, a New Brittain torque wrench, and cool curvy Vise Grips.

Thanks again ya'll! If you see anything you like, don't hesitate to ask.

Ver nice, that looks like it will clean right up.

I'm curious about the oddball long NB socket. Is there any part #? It could have been a catalog item for a certain vehicle. NB is not really known for special order items, yet it doesn't have the typical bands around it.

Edit: they did have a style without bands.

Those curvy vise grips are great for grabbing a nut on the opposite side where you can't reach, when removing bolts - and vice-versa. I've used them around and in the frame of my truck when removing stuff.

It’s a Kennedy 260 I believe.

That's IT! Thank you so much Sunset_Z! You ROCK!

1970s/80s/90s vintage.

I couldn't find much about that either even with the model number. Thanks Rileysan.

It does have a part number but I didn't write it down or get a closeup when I was shooting the pictures 3bay. I'll get it for you though. Thanks for your input!

I like them too. I figured they might be handy with my metal work on customers' beat up parts. :bounce:

Thanks for all the help with this guys! Your info and expertise is invaluable and I'm honored to have you all. If anyone has anything further to add, please don't hesitate.

You’re very welcome. The only reason I know that is because I have a brown one like it. I’m not sure about the age. Mine has a “Kennedy Kits” sticker on it so it can probably be dated that way. Not sure when they changed the name.
