With all the other threads about pressure washer pumps failing I got curious and want to do a little planning for the future. Right now I have an excell pressure washer that has a honda 190 engine. It's a horizontal shaft and the pump sits behind the engine, not below it. So if/when this pump takes a dump can I buy a CAT pump to use with this engine and have a decent pressure washer? From what I've read CAT pumps are top of the line and last forever. Are pumps kind of universal? Or do they have different bolt patterns, input shaft diameters, or need a certain HP engine to run?
