Can I replace bottom panel myself?

Bottom panel of my garage door was damaged. It's sectional with extension spring. so I am wondering if it's possible for me and a helper to replace it on our own rather than looking for a garage door contractor.

Easily, especially if it's the bottom. A couple good C-clamps, and a socket set, and your good. Is it wood or the newer ones?

I wouldn't recommend it! Extension spring doors at their best are a pain in the ***. Not knowing the age of your door, you need to check to see if the section is still available. Good luck!

You can do it, I have done it. But the labor in this field is cheap considering that an installer can do it in a couple hours if that.

In the back of my mind I was thinking that while you were typing it. At the modest cost of new doors it might be easier to just go ahead and get an all new door.

The door is made by Clopay, the classic collection looks exactly like the one I have. Installation doesn't look complicated just by looking at it, I guess the most difficult part is replacing the bracket that's connected to the spring, but I think it's doable with a friend.

I installed a whole 16x7 clopay by myself, it can be done and not terribly difficult.

It doesn't matter who made the door! See if you can get a model # off the end of the door and check with Clopay before you disassemble anything. Then you have to go pick it up and get it home without Damage (you dent it, you own it) that's all before the fun begins. Then you have to dispose the old section.

As stated before, extension springs are a pain in the ***! They should have been outlawed years ago.
