I got an older sewing machine foot pedal in a box of stuff at a garage sale today and would like help trying to attach a regular 2 prong 110/115 (or whatever) so I can use it for a dremmel or other things?
First photo shows pedal with sewing adaptor in line as it is now

And the second shows the socket on the donor cord I would like to replace it with.
Can anyone show me a diagram of what this connection will look like?
BTW, there are three female holes in the sewing adaptor.

The reason for the three contacts in the original plug is to allow the light to stay on and not change brightness with the speed of the motor. One pin is constant power for the light, one pin is varied by the pedal and the third pin is the neutral. If all you want is to do is vary the speed of a motor, you can replace the entire cord (on the output side of the pedal) with a 2-wire extension cord. The pros here should have advice on how to do that.

Thank-you I would never had known about the third being constant for a light. I managed to figure out I needed to do this...

Yep, that should work. I never looked for a device to do what you are talking about but I have repaired a number of old sewing machines. If you haven't already cut up that pedal, it might be cost effective to sell the sewing machine pedal online and use (some?) of the money to buy a ready-built controller. It's worth looking into since some models of foot-control have gotten to be a bit rare, at least working ones.
