Can I terminate a circuit at a switch?

I pulled an extra circuit into a room on the shop in case I needed an additional set of lights, heater, etc.

It is a triple gang box with 2 other switches. Can I go ahead and wire it to the third switch? This would be the cleanest

Or should I nut the ends and push it back in the box?

Is there anything about this against code that would nix me on my inspection?

Where would the live circuit end? If in a box on the ceiling or a wall somewhere and has wire nuts on the hot and neutral and ground wire is connected at each end to a box, would be fine. You might want to label the end of the circuit what it's for in case you never use it.

You seam to indicate that you have a "spare" NM wire into a box that isn't currently serving a purpose?

In that case, nut off both hot and neutral and connect the grounds. Make sure you have enough wire to do something with it later. ~8-10" out of the box.

Connecting anything other than the ground will cause problems like shorts and popped breakers. You could connect the end that is in the breaker box to a breaker so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle.

99 for a 100 the inspector won't even see it.

Someone must have done that in my house; we were trying to figure out what each breaker went to and there was one of them that when I turned it off, everything in the house still worked. I disconnected the hot and wirenutted it off in the panel; it's been like that for months and everything still works.

Yep, that will be confusing to have a "dead" switch no one knows what it goes to. Wire nut them seperate, then slip a piece of white tape over the wires with the breaker number written on it, roll them back in the box. Then, at the electric supply store buy a "dummy" filler that will fill in your extra 3 gang switch plate hole. JMO
