OK.. I needed a kero heater.. I ordered it on 11/29 and it's been stuck on processing at Northern tools since then.. I just call and asked about it and they said they can't cancel the order because it's waiting at the warehouse to be shipped.. So I call back again and the guy was like I think I just spoke to you? And I said yes.. So I asked him was my card charged and he says no not yet..

SO I got curious since I saw the heater no longer listed on the website so the online chat box comes up and they said they are sold out until next fall??

NEXT FALL?? Are you serious??

I'm scared if I order the heater from another site they might ship this one from NT and I'm stuck with two charges...

It's pretty bad because this is only my 2nd order from NT but this right here makes me not want to order from them again..

They either have them or they don't -- it can't be both at the same time. I'd call them back and ask which it is. Tell them if they have them, you want one shipped out tomorrow. If not, you want the order canceled. If the rep can't do that, ask for a supervisor. Be polite but firm. Go up the chain until you get someone with the power to help. If you can't get satisfaction, call your credit card company. There's probably nothing they can do now because there charge hasn't posted yet, but get them to make a note that you called about it and that you're going to order elsewhere and won't pay for the one from NT (if they "can't" cancel).

Good luck!

not that i really like to do this but faced with simular circumstances in the past we have double ordered an item from another vendor, and whichever one shows up second we just refuse the delivery and it gets sent back to the vendor, then they have no choice but to credit your account including shipping....

if they try to charge you, you have recourse with your credit card provider and will win the dispute since you technically never received the merchandise...(thanks to mrs box who worked 10 years in a charge back dept of a computer company)

again this may not be the most ethical way, but an option

gl either way

yeah I went ahead and ordered the one on Amazon as well if the NT one does somehow show up (doubt it) I will just send the Amazon one back.

the thing that is screwy is say it's gone from the website but if you click the item link in your order status it still shows it as being in-stock.

At least on amazon they give a date range when I should get it. Dec 7th-12

I just wished I ordered from them from the start.. less hassle.

Well I got an email that it shipped so I canceled the order for the one on Amazon but I will most likely buy another next week as well.

This is why I buy these kind of things locally. 3 yrs ago I bought a mr heater 220k(?) fuel oil heater. It lit 2 times and quit.Took it back and got another. It worked for 3-4 days and caught fire. Took it back and got another. That one stunk so bad I couldnt use it and the air pressure screw was immoveable. Took it back but by then it was feb and they (tsc) didnt have any more and were not going to get any that year, but they did have 2- 175k units. I know the store mgr and he gave me both 175's for no up charge. They have worked great for 3 yrs now. I cannot imagine the hassels I would have had shipping heaters back 3 times and trying to keep the $ straight.

I'm sure where you live you have lots of TSC stores were you are but I live in a urban area.. I think the closest one is like 40 or so miles away.. Not worth it..

Anyways the heater came and waiting for the other one

First of all, "vent" all you want to!!! I'm personally not a big fan of Northern tools or HB tools.... just my opinion. (maybe not the opinion to listen to...). Keep every email, invoice, correspondences, ect. that you have with these folks.
I hope everything will work out OK for you. I don't have much trust in these companies, but, they must still exist for a reason! Let me know how it turns out. cheers, bird

Curious why you would continue to get replacements. After the second defective one I would have figured them to be junk and bought a different brand.

I fired up the heater yesterday it was fine but I don't like how NT handled everything given this was my 2nd order.. My first order was very simple a 22 mm socket.. But yes I have everything.

Its so cold here in SoCal I've started wearing long sleeves at night.

There is no "other" brand. All the multifuel torpedo heaters are made by one company, and the 220k btu models are only marketed as "mr heater".
