Not sure but could probably be like the wires on headphones where there is one wire but you cut into it to find a wire just under the outer coating then another jacketed wire under that.
Even with that you can splice if you take your time and keep the wires seperate.

Most 120vac Christmas lights use 30 LEDs in each circuit, so you commonly get 30 light strings or 60 light strings, i.e. 1 circuit or 2 circuits. You can't get it lower than 30 lights per circuit without really knowing what you're doing and adding in power resistors etc.

Thanks, after doing further research I found this to be true.i just taped over the extras so they don’t show.

As above - I'd assume that unless each bulb had a current limiting resistor that the string can't be cut short. I would not expect the common sets to have that. The C9 LED red strings I got at Hobby Lobby limit total string draw to 216w, which is 100 strings end to end LOL.
