Can lights dusk to dawn suggestions?

LED bulbs have finally gotten down to reasonable (to me) prices and I've started replacing all my CFLs with LED. My can lights in the eves of my home have been halogen so I rarely used them at 60W each. I'm replacing them with LEDs (9W each) and would like to start using them from dusk to dawn. I don't want to have to worry about turning them on at night and off in the morning as I'll likely forget A LOT.

Since they are cans, I don't think the little screw in photocell adapters will work, as they'll likely not get enough light up in the can to deactivate the lights during the day.

My other option is to have the electrician wire in a photocell somewhere which may be a challenge as I believe you need a constant hot as one of the connections.

Any advice on how to accomplish this?

I have had that same timer switch on my eave light circuit for six years, and it works great. I adjust the time every year or so, just to keep it synced with dusk in my time zone. The switch has four pre-programmed latitudes, and the "North" one was closest for me, but not exact, so I modify the actual time to back off from the programmed time, but only about once a year.
I also have an on/off switch downstream of this timer, so I can completely cancel the lights at will, such as when I want to go dark and hide in the basement on Halloween when the candy is gone . . .;)
