The SO sockets and the SO breaker bar are 1944 and 1945,Only years with the G yearmark standing for Government.I have the year mark sheet for Snap On tools including the updated sheet and you can get this sheet from any Snap On dealer getting a copy of it

I don't think that is a G, certainly not in the style of the 1945 G. I think it is a 6 as in 1946, the style is much closer. 1944 was a E for emergency, 1945 was a G for Government.

We had the date code chart posted on this board, in a sticky, but I cannot find it, so here it is again.

The breaker bar has a 5 with rounded top and bottom, that is 1955.

That is a G for the yearmark on the SO sockets and breaker bar, from 1945.I have a 9/16 shallow socket in 1/2 drive that has a G for a yearmark.

That "G" appears fully closed on the bottom, that is why I say it appears to be a 6 instead, as it much more closely matches the 6 than the G. Also, I don't think any chrome was used on tools in the wartime production. I have a Snap On 1/4 drive G marked ratchet and its quality of finish and polish is lacking and it is cad plated rather than chrome plated. The Craftsman wrenches I have and the one Plomb wrench I have that is marked "war finish" are all black oxide finish.

I would like to see better macro shots of the date codes.

Most Snap On sockets in the 1940s never had chrome on them.I have a lot of NOS Snap On sockets without chrome I bought from a Carquest parts store like brand new and never used.Northwestern Auto Supply in Muskegon,Mi had them sitting around in their stock room.
