Gents, this is not really a brand vs brand thread. I intend to buy one or two drivers of several brands in an attempt to determine grip size and how it fits me. I have Klein covered in multiple handle sizes and a few Wiha models so that should be covered too. I want to try Wera which is obvious from the thread title, and maybe Witte MaxxPro.
Okay, fine. Wera is easy to get at good prices. What I don't 'get' is Wera's nomenclature regarding models. I am interested in the typical Kraftform Plus models with the soft green panels surrounded by harder black handle parts. The listings for slotted drivers have series like 334, 335, etc. and some of them have suffixes like SB or similar. I think the latter means it is individually packed for retail but I am unsure. How do you determine what is what? The 334 seems really similar to the 335 other than some larger sizes in the 335 line. Typical use for me would be 1/4 inch cabinet tip in four and eight inch lengths and a 3/16 cabinet tip four inch shaft for cover plate work. I also know the approximate mm size compared to those Imperial sizes but I cannot figure the difference in the series.
I need to look at the most common two sizes of handles. Klein models have two very common sizes. One you see on larger nut drivers and the #2 Philips and 1/4 inch cab tips. The other smaller one is on 1/4 nut drivers and 3/16 size cab tips. Wera lists the handle lengths and weights but no real information about what designates one line from the other. Philips seems more straightforward but there are still multiple ranges. Thanks.
