Can someone identify this drill press?

I scored this over the weekend. I am just trying to find out if it is worth fixing up and keeping or not.

It works pretty well but does need some love. Looks to me like it was knocked over/fell over and that accident damaged some of the metal around the pulleys and smashed the electrical box on the side of the motor.

It is about 6' from floor to top of pulley cover. Has a 1hp motor that is labeled to run 110 or 220. I haven't pulled the chuck but it looks like it is an MT2 or MT3. It looks like it was originally green (that machine green that many older tools came in) but the table has some red paint as well.

The only marking on it is the name in the middle of the handle.

If anybody is familiar with this, please let me know what you know.

That is REALLY close to my Jet 13R, which was made in Japan around 1970. I'll bet the maker is the same as my Jet with small differences. But I've never heard of that brand name. Look to see if it has any of the old quality inspection tags that used to be required on anything that came out of Japan. My money is on it being Japanese made, but if it's 1980's or later, it's probably Taiwan (which is still a good drill press).

Doubtful it's Spanish, as "Nova" loosely translates to "No Go". Everything about that drill press screams Taiwanese.

Looks like the Chinese one my father bought over 25 years ago, good big basic drill press, nothing out of the ordinary

I picked it up for $25 from an estate sale. I can't really beat that.

The chuck on it is not original. It is a keyless setup and says "Kawasaki Japan" on it. Besides the cosmetic damage, the only problem that I have found is that the tensioner handle (used when changing speeds) is not attached to the rod that pushes the motor back.

I'm sure it's Asian of either Jap or Taiwan variety. both of which can be very good DPs. I'd keep it if the bearings are good.
