I wanted to get some Snap On ratchets and swivel heads on ebay. Is it possible they are selling fake ones? Would the part number be enough to justify it's real?

Thanks for any tips.

There are plenty of villains, scoundrels, and theives on ebay. Arm yourself with knowledge and skeptisism before you shop ebay. There are tons of would-be hustlers on ebay.

Do you have a picture or link to what you believe to be fake? I bet someone here would spot phony Snap on in a minute.....

The first link you can tell is a stock photo not actual item for sale. Notice no part # in pic on Gtermini's post. Second link appears to be real but I don't think prices are that good on either one. If they are real, the part # will be on the shaft not just have Snap on written on the hard handle.

The first seller has over 20000 transactions with better than 99% positive rating. (you can't please everyone).
I would be happy to buy from him.

The second seller has only 48 transactions. greater caution advised.

They both look genuine. The prices look genuine, too. The 1/4" one looks bent. Maybe it's just me.

If you don't feel comfortable with a seller; the beauty of ebay is....there are tons of sellers to choose from.

I got my New FHNF100 for $65 shipped and my THNF72 for $66 shipped on ebay, so I would be patient.

I hate you. :)

Why would the FHNF100 be cheaper? lol

I don't know, It came from a pawn shop. Pawn shops typically have better deals on ebay than in their store. The TNHF72 was harder to get a deal on. I looked at the past history of their sale prices and I didn't see anything much cheaper than I paid. It was a "buy it now" for $60+ $6 shipping.

Check out the stamped beam, It is total legit.

For someone to fake stampings on a tool it would be tedious work to do themselves.

I caught it once on Ebay and reported it and the listing was removed because it was so obvious. It was not a chrome tool either.

Thanks. I just bought. My snap on dealer doesn't give me good deals at all. I would probably paid $100 from the snap on guy.

I bought this ratchet on Ebay. It's marked TFY936 on the handle and USA on the head along with pat'd no. on the plate. It's a 1/4" drive flexhead with a pass thru square drive. It doesn't say Snap On anywhere on this ratchet. I thought it was a fake. I showed it to my SO rep and we looked it up in the catalog and their it was, with no markings. Take a look.

All of the snap on ratchets I got have the name Snap On on the back of the head. I think that's a replica.

I'm fairly positive that ratchet came out of a kit to be used on Hi-Loc fasteners.

I would believe that ratchet is real. Those were stamped snap-on on the head and obviously because of the pass through design they couldnt do that. And they arn't going the make a special roll die just for that one tool beings that was made for hy-lok fasteners.
