Can this Compressor be rebuilt?

I have a Maxus air compressor that the pump will not turn. It looks like it is frozen on the crank to the piston rod.

Can is be fixed?

First thing to do is see if you can get any parts for it. The bearings might be bought from a bearing supply. My free innerweb diagnosis says it could be the motor is somehow stuck from a bad bearing or the armature hitting the coils. Good luck.

Did you clean it thoroughly before taking the pictures? I don't see a drop of oil anywhere on anything. If you didn't do any cleaning, and that's how you found it, the crank and rod are certainly trashed.

I did clean it out. I noticed there was not a lot of oil in the crank case. I can not move the rod on the crank shaft. I am hoping to find a way to remove the rod from the crank and save this. It has been a great compressor for many years. I am going to get a puller and try that.

Any ideas on where to look for a bearing/ bushing?

This was a grea compressor. It had 3.7 CFM 135PSIG. I used it for framing, Tires,Siding, nailing.

Any suggestions on a good portable compressor with these specs that is less than $150.00

Try wrench the rod back and forth and see if it frees up. Shoot it with some penetrating oil as well.

American Locomotive..... It worked...!! Yea Thankx. After I got the rod off the crank. I refinished it with some sand paper and a Dremel. The rod being the soft part of this set up was the worst. I made it round again. Cleaned out the crank case and oiled the bearings in the motor ( inside the Case ). The 2 gauges were bad so I replaced them. The Compressor works great..

another resurrection from the dead! great on you!
so it looks like there's not a bearing on the crank, just the rod to the crank?
be sure to keep it well oiled, might even consider running synthetic in it, to help preserve it
