Fill the ground off insulation areas w/ silicone or whatever and if the plug/socket is removable, shrink tubing. If not, properly wrap w/ electrical tape. It'll be good for 10 years. Tape needs to overlap itself ~50%, be stretched a bit and have a few layers, but its mostly there to protect the silicone.

Yes, people will have spasms, but electrically there's nothing wrong.
And, yes, 80+ posts??

I (the OP) should probably post a photo of the new cord ends and be done with it? Yes, I put a female end on the long cord and a male end on the shorty. Will that make the thread go away?

No, because you'll get criticized for one of the following; How you installed, Brand you installed or just plain "This brand is better than that brand"!

Cutting it in two won't make the thread go away. It's like a hydra, it will grow from the separated pieces...

You'd have to drive a garlic-oaked stake through it's heart during a full moon while dressed in a nun's habit to kill it. (and post a video of the deed...);)

I now realize why my posts don't attract many readers or comments. My posts are basically serious questions which cannot be turned into a joke or maybe I am on everybodies ignore list.
Oh well all I have to add is that I like the repair with the liquid soap dispenser, but I still cannot figure out how he got the duplex outlet in the dispenser.
Eureka!!! I think I figured it out out, he is one of those experienced boat in a bottle builder.
You know they have special techniques. LOL

I use either bubble gum or silly putty, then aluminum foil. Seems to work well, but if you use the gum, be careful how long you leave it on the ground, the ants will get to it.
