I've had this Kobalt toolbox for many years...way beyond any warranty that it may have had. This full width drawer used to hold all of my sockets and socket wrenches. As a result, the slides have failed. I was wondering if anyone would have recommendations for what I could do to repair them?

Thanks in advance

Can't help you with reparing the slides, but you might find something used on eB*y. That said, I had a similar problem with a '79 Proto box I bought used (in bad shape). One upper drawer was missing a drawer slide that I could not source. Then I realized the the lowest deep drawer had 4 slides. This lead me to remove 2 slides and use 1 of them on the upper drawer (I store mostly scanners and other light weight tools in the lowest drawer so, 2 slides do just fine).

I would just drill out the rivets and replace the slides. Just get slides with an appropriate weight rating and make sure they are "full extension". Might even result in an upgrade.

Thanks for the reply. Are there any sites that are better than others? Or just go with something like this from Amazon?

I have a box where the slides failed on one tray, replaced them with full extension HD slides . pop riveted them into place & all is good ( and better than the originals) I had to shim the tracks in a bit to line up properly

I'm not picky so I would just look for something semi-reputable with the right length and weightbearing spec. Is 10 inches enough for your drawer?

There's probably some drawer-slide experts on this site. Maybe someone else could give you a better recommendation. My instinct is that even a moderately good quality slide is probably an upgrade from the original.

Knape and Vogt, or Accuride for basic ball bearing slides. Measure the length of the slide front end to back end with it closed to get the length. And check the thickness of the slide. It is probably 1/2" or very close to 1/2". It is important to get the same thickness. This is basically the space between the side of the drawer and the side of the box. If you get a thinner slide you will have to mess around shimming it. If it is thicker it will not work.

I pasted that link before I selected a size. The drawer is actually 16" deep, but I need to measure the slide, as mentioned below.

Just go back to the store where you bought the box,(lowes)they stock ball bearing slides in many lengths and weight capacities that are 1/2inch/12mm in thickness and from what I can see are identical to what you have there.
