Looking at the picture, I don't think you're going to re attach the collar. If the hammer head is out of square, I would buy another

Yep, the collar doesn't matter to me. However, the head is canted.

It looks like some sort of epoxy in the head. Anything I have that will soften the epoxy will not be good for the fiberglass handle.

Looks like a defect as the hammer looks brand new. Can it be returned?

I am checking into that. I got it from Cripe. I have bought a lot of stuff from them but never tried to return anything. Their standard return policy is that you pay the shipping back to them, but I don't feel that would be appropriate in this case.

I thought that was interesting also. I knew they were Nupla when I bought them. All my other Nupla hammers have been decent.

Nupla is to hammers what Western Forge is to adjustable wrenches lol, they rebadge for quite a few labels. I have a Proto badged Nupla 3lb dead blow, I have seen them with blue handles labeled Armstrong, and other brands. They don't get much buzz on here as Trusty Cook seems to have cornered that market lmao but they are good quality tools.
Edit: good luck
