What's wrong with it?
Likely just the slide and maybe the slide is just poped out?
Will Mac warranty the slide if that's what it is?
Need more info
I have a tech1000 and paid $700 just for reference

I look through the Lexington and Louisville Craigslist ads quite a bit, I think that MAC box has been listed multiple times and for a while now. Personally, I think he's over-priced, but I am not an expert on Pro-level toolboxes.

I had actually posted this one over in the craigslist thread of the hot deals section on the 23rd of this month. It was in Mount Vernon (around Louisville) and they were only asking $1000. Looks like it may have been sold though.

EDIT: Scratch that... looks like it's still available:

Alternatively, here's the same toolbox as you mention above, that the guy is willing to seperate in Hodgenville... he's asking $1500 for the combo... wonder if he'd do $1000 for the main box... or maybe 1250 for the combo... looks in better shape than the one in Nicholasville.

Yes, anything made of steel can be repaired. Helps to have a MIG and know how to use it.

No, I wouldn't pay $1000 for that box with no issues.

Maybe, be patient. The deals will eventually come to you.

That mac box at the bottom is a great deal. Those boxes are built like brick shithouses. Also thhat top and bottom snappy would be a great choice along wth the matco. If it were me, id buy the matco cuz that's a steal if its in good shape. Btw, I had a tech 1000 and was not impressed at all.

One thing that is really nice about the harborfreight box, is that it is ready to be used, no cleaning, painting, pounding back into shape needed. If you are short on time to invest fixing up a box. The ~$380 starts to look really tempting.

Anything can be repaired, but for $1000 I'd expect that box to not need fixing. Just my opinion...

Agree and unlike friction slides, I doubt you can just straighten a ball bearing slide and put it back to use. Then you get into warranty issues, since you were not the original purchaser. Not to mention all the time spent trying to get everything to line back up.

The words 'toolbox' and 'how much will it cost to be fixed' should never be in the same sentence.
I'd pass.

X 1000 :lol_hitti I don't think there is a quicker way to waste time than trying to fix up a tool box. Then again I am FAR from a sheet metal person, so that is probably one of my problems.
