Can you customize a Snap On ratchet?

Hello All!

I have fallen in love with my FHR80 and want a flex head version. SO makes the FHRLF80A, however the handle is way to long for my needs. The FHF80A is the perfect handle length but not QR. According to both specs (9/16 x 1 1/4), it looks like the QR head can be swapped with the shorter non QR handle.

My question is, how, if possible, can I custom order such a ratchet? I don't have a Snap On guy, per se... The SO guy I got my first ratchet from is the son of the owner of a repair shop my last employer used. Snap On's website doesn't list a franchise driver in my area, however, I've seen one around. Is this something a franchise driver would want to do? Of course, I would rather not have to buy BOTH ratchets to do the conversion

Any thoughts or suggestions are as always, greatly appreciated!

Yup, if you don't have a really cool driver, that's probably how you would do that.

I've been thinking of doing something like this so I could make a super long, flex head, quick release 1/4". It would just be neat.

Above is one that ended up being shortened. I had to bend the handle to access a particular spot. When straightening it out it broke. So I cut the bent section off and turned the handle round. I bored the hand end and pressed the two back together. What you see is the result, one very handy ratchet.

Call Snap-On and see if you can buy the head by itself and handle by itself. Might be more expensive but you'll get what you want.

Yes you are right. However, the handle would be stamped with the wrong number. I suppose that could bug someone purchasing it.

Financially it would be difficult to purchase both ratchets up front and do the swap on my own, even though the second ratchet would be for sale.
