Can you date an old SK socket box by the label plate?

can the date be dialed in any closer from the plate inside the top of this small socket box?

They introduced the metal decal in 1946/7, immediately following the third type of water transfer paper decals they were using up to and including WWII. If you search on "logo" on the SK thread there is much more detail provided in a few posts. EDIT: Relevant post in SK thread is linked here.

The pic in that link has "up" arrows on it; mine doesn't.

So I wonder what a 1958 plaque looks like. Don't see one at alloy-Artifacts.

This first one is likely the one they used right before the one OTG posted above. The label at the top of the second picture I have reason to believe is from 1958. I would put the OP’s label from around ‘59 to around ‘63. That’s my best guess based on my examples.

Both of the sets that my father gave me wear the same badge as the OP. They were purchased in 1955-56.

Thanks for posting. If they began using the label without the upper arrow in 1954 that is going to date many of my sets much earlier than I originally thought. The great majority of my postwar boxes and sets have the labels with the upper arrows.

Certainly no newer than 1964 when the label would have changed to SK Wayne. So with new information posted upthread the label indicates production between 1954 and 1963.

This box (same label) was bought new around 1971-2 to house my flex sockets, that were also purchased new in 1954.

Two more examples of those boxes....believe I bought four of those boxes at the time, about $4 ea.

And the last of my 1954 purchases, deep sockets.

Could very well have been NOS. I always thought those nameplates were from the seventies.....maybe not. I have no proof either way.

I remember being a little disappointed that the nameplates were changed from those originals I had. But, you get over that stuff fast!
