Can you help me identify this vise?

I got this vise from a friend as a loaner until he finds a house with a garage or a garage for rent. This vise was his grandfather's and was in poor shape when I received it. Since he is being nice and lending me it I figured I would restore it.

I am going to be painting it chevy red since that is his favorite color in automotive terms, new jaws, along with hardware, grease it up, and tighten it up if need be.

Also I am having trouble removing the rear pin so I can finish dis-assembly.

That is a Wilton 1750. Probably '90s vintage.

Check http://wiltonviseparts.net/ for jaws... They are made by one of the member's here and are better quality than anywhere else...

Get a bigger hammer.

On a baby bullet I was working on, it was easier to get the pin out some from hitting it on the inside then I used some pliers to pull it out. I've never worked on a full size wilton.

If it opens and closes ok leave em in. Lots of those get broken when people try taking them apart...you can still paint it up nice without taking that part apart

The washer in #2, does anyone know the thickness? During disassembly it was not there. Since the horseshoe still good I am just going to run down to home depot and pick one up.

I would just get a regular washer and see how that fits. You want the groove in the handle to be more or less centered with the horseshoe. If it touches the horseshoe it's going to cause wear...
