Hey, ran into an issue balancing tire on Lexus GX / Tacoma wheels
The bore is 106mm (4.17") and the cone's largest end is 4.25". So although very slightly bigger, the cone is actually recessed into the wheel a little, but not coming through yet. This don't get enough preload to do a good job.

The obvious solution, buy a larger cone does not work because the backing plate opening is about 4.3". We want the cone to go into the backing plate.

So can I get a hubcentric ring (prefer Aluminum) that is 106mm and OD and something like 78mm ID and keep it on the wheel just for the balancing and take it right off, I can get the cone sitting about half way. The ring is thin, it may all wobble to hell, who knows without trying this?

The other idea, is that they do sell plastic spacer they make you can put behind to cone in situation like this so the cone can push further into the spring to get more pressure.

I tried coning from the outside as well with a huge cone, it is not too repeatable because the cone is just touching some random casted area and not machined bore. (eye balled the rim it looks ok) It works ok but not repeatable.

Most alloy toyota truck wheels balance better using a finger plate. If you have a newer high end machine with the adjustable cones that would be ideal.

From what I found they are hubcentric on paper but using lugcentric adapter just get better results.

What would be the difference between the haweka adapter or the adjustable lugcentric adapter sold for my machine ?

I am still thinking about this issue. The biggest cone I can fit is 108mm and the bore on these cars are 106mm.

I thought about getting the adjustable adapter with the measuring caliper, but it would only hold the wheel with 3 lugs and nothing holding the center bore of the wheel.

with this 6 lug "quick plate" from the outside, plus the cone on the inside. That should give the best stability and centering. it's not as fancy as the haweka with the adjustable studs and swappable tips, but it should work.

later I can buy the 5 lug plate so I am pretty much covered with most common wheels then.

So I just want to know if you guys think this is a good solution?
